1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Hot Chocolate, please.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Would it be a huge surprise if I told you that Santa doesn't visit the house of a 38 year old single woman?
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
It's a Christmas Guitar at my house. And the lights are white.
4. Do you hang mistletoe?
LOL!
5. When do you put your decorations up?
Occasionally.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish?
Dressing. I could make a meal of it on its own.
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child?
Sitting on the couch with my sister, watching Christmas specials on tv, each of us with a spoon in our hands scraping clean the pot Mom just made fudge in.
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
Probably at school, but I don't really remember.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
I'm not exactly stellar at delayed gratification... of course I open a gift on Christmas Eve!
10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
No, see... it's a Christmas Guitar.

And it's decorated with green evergreen garland, white lights (though I think we covered that already), and ornaments.
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?
Love it when I'm looking at it from inside the house. Dread it when I'm in the middle of shoveling it.
12. Can you ice skate?
No :( Please don't tell. They might revoke my citizenship.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
No... I've been blessed with a generous mother who gives the most thoughtful gifts, and amazing friends who are also thoughtful and generous. Each one is fabulous.
14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
Reinforcing the Jesus connection between my head and my heart.
15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
Fudge. It is also my favourite Holiday breakfast and general Holiday snack.
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Christmas Eve service at church. Soaking in the candlelight, being with people I love, feeling in the midst of family, and lighting candles throughout the gathering from one central candle at the front (as the Light of Christ passing through our gathering and world). Powerful. Holy. Peaceful. My single favourite time of the year.
17. What tops your tree?
The Guitar hangs sideways; doesn't have a definable top.
18.Which do you prefer giving or Receiving?
Giving. Absolutely.
19. What is your favorite Christmas Song?
Well, I've been singing Ron Sexsmith's Maybe This Christmas for a few weeks, but I was recently reminded of The Christmas Song performed by the Vince Guaraldi Trio on A Charlie Brown Christmas Album. Love this.
20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum?
Yum...

Hot chocolate, and I definately agree with you on the snow. I'd love to see a picture of the decorated guitar !!! lol
Weirdbunny... here you go :) It's from last year.
I have my book ... my book in my hands!!! MY BOOK! WOW!!!
Can you believe it? THIS CHRISTMAS!
It's going on the bookshelf next to the book you sent me "But Lord, I was happy shallow!" (when I get done carrying it around hugging it and generally get done going ACK! IT's REAL!!!!!!!!!!)
Love your answer for #5.
Merry Christmas Wilsonian!! You've been a true gift to me the past two years.
PK- I'm so happy for you! What a Christmas gift :) And just to clarify for anyone who wonders... I sent PK that book not because I thought she was shallow, but because of the format of the book lol!
Deb- The feeling is mutual. It has been an amazing thing to see your life unfold in the last two years. Hard to believe all that has happened since that evening at your in-law's. So much more to come!!
WOW!!! The christmas guitar is awesome!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS :)
Love reading your blog. The guitar is really neat. I have always liked that creativity or artsyness that you have. Have an awesome Christmas! God Bless!
Absolutely Eggnog, and yum to dressing with just a little gravy. As for candy canes, the cherry ones are to die for. p.s. have always loved the guitar, does it only come out for Christmas?
Nice to know...
I wanted to wish you a very merry CHRISTmas. I have enjoyed so manmy of your posts.
God bless!
Erin, have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year!
Merry Christmas Biscotti Brain :)
I wish you joy, peace and love this Christmas. Consider your self hugged.
Liza
Hi Erin,
Dropped by to wish you a Merry Christmas. I enjoy your blog so much and always get excited when I notice you've posted! God bless you!
Kelli, CS, Heather, Liza, Barbara... Merry Christmas to you too! You folks enrich my life in so many ways.
Sue... eggnog? Really? How could you? ;) Merry Christmas.
Anon... Blessings to you too, who ever you are :)
The reason I never did this meme (it just occured to me now) is that I could never choose between hot choc. and egg nog. I can have hc year round but egg nog is only seasonal.
LOVE LOVE the Christmas Guitar. You beat all, girl!
I woke up with bad dreams, (wish I'd woken up thinking of fruit trees) but you have brought a Christmas smile to my face.
I promise I will not tell Immigration about your ice skating abilities the next time we talk about who to deport from Canada (LOL)
Merry Christmas and peace to all men and women!!
SL
I, too, love the guitar! I remember wrapping a guitar with a spare set of lights one year when I was in high school. I kept that tradition through college, but lost it (the tradition AND the guitar) soon after. Lovely.
Love Christmas Eve service, too. I was completely annoying and snapped tons of pics of it this year with my new camera. Had to capture it somehow... Fortunately I can turn off the sound and spare those around me from my clickity-clicking. :-)
Have a great cup of hot choc, and ignore your green holiday!!
I'll go:
1. Hot Apple cider (really just hot apple juice with cinnamon)
2. Santa, when he leaves gifts, leaves them unwrapped
3. Amber/Gold lights
4. No mistletoe
5. I sometimes decorate; ideally, I'd decorate Dec 1st
6. My fav holiday dish is pie - for a meal, I prefer roast beef or steak to turkey or ham. And I like pizza. Maybe next year I'll make a holiday pizza
7. My favorite Holiday memory is staring at the tree's multi-coloured lights making fascinating shadows on the wall
8. At some point I figured out Santa - in fact I don't remember believing at all
9. There are no xmas eve gifts for me, tho I'd love to let my hubby unwrap gifts early because I get so excited to give him stuff
10. I have no tree, but I will someday, and it will be the best, and it will not be limited to 2 or 3 colours
11. Love the pretty snow, hate the cold/ice/snow-driving
12. I can't ice skate
13. My fav gift - as a kid was probably a barbie-sized kitchen with real running water
14. The most important thing to me about the holiday is telling people that I love them
15. Fav dessert: iced sugar cookies and apple pie
16. My fav tradition was that at my gramma's house we'd take out this huge doodle art poster that had to be coloured and we'd all - kids and adults alike - colour it in for HOURS
17. I think I'd like a star on my tree
18. I love giving, and WATCHING the gift be opened!
19. I LOVE Zooey Deschanel & Leon Redbone's version of Baby it's Cold Outside (Elf Soundtrack); I love that song and their version rocks. I also love Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep by - of course - Bing Crosby, tho Diana Krall has a decent version. That's prob my all-time favourite
20. Candy Canes are yukky. Sorry. I'll take chocolate or gummy worms
A Canadian who can't ice skate? Oh my! :-)
Happy Holidays my friend!
SL & Jules... I'm trusting your with the Skating Secret! lol!
Shanna... there are worse ways to be completely annoying. :) We rarely document moments like that in our lives, so that could be a very cool thing.
Shiz... Yay, you played! The Family Doodle Art Adventure is one of the coolest things I've heard!!
Warmest wishes of the season to you, Erin!
I'd love to hear some carols on that guitar of yours:)
Alas Gracie... this particular guitar is dead (which is why it's being used as a decoration). But I hope that next year I'll be able to plunk out a tune on a different guitar. lol! We'll see.
